Patriotic Luminaries

July is Here!

Man it is getting to be crazy hot here in GA. It makes it hard to go outside during the day. But at night it's cooled down enough to be able to relax on the back porch and just soak up the humid summer air.

Given the spirit of the upcoming holiday (my favorite one!) I decided to make some adorable luminaries for the front walk that are so simple to make.

Supplies:
-Mason Jars
-Red and Blue acrylic paint
-Star Stickers
-Painters Tape
-Paint brush

These can't be easier. Tape the lip of all of the jars. Put painters tape on half of the mason jars in a stripe pattern. Then arrange the star stickers on the other half of jars. Paint the striped jars red and the star jars blue. You will have to apply several coats. Wait at least an hour before coats. Trust me! Or your paint will slip right off the glass and it's a pain. Once you're done, fill each jar with 1/2 inch of sand or salt rocks. Then place a candle in each, and light! I started by using tea lights but I thought they were too dim. Votive candles worked much better :) enjoy!
